Polling Archives

The Polling Archives presents the largest on-line collection of Upper Midwestern public opinion data, featuring the Upper Midwest Public Opinion Archive, the Minnesota Poll Archive (2000-present), and the Humphrey Institute Surveys (2004-present).

Upper Midwest Public Opinion Archive

The Elections Project has compiled the most comprehensive public opinion database on Upper Midwestern politics, policy, and elections, culled from leading regional and national polls. The Upper Midwest Public Opinion Archive will be continually updated, as well as extend further back in time as more polling data is collected. Periodically the Elections Project will also release a Poll Roundup assembling the latest results on pairings of candidates, policy issues, and other important political attitudes.

Star Tribune Minnesota Poll Archive

The Minnesota Poll is one of the oldest continuously published polls in the nation with its first news story published on March 19, 1944. Since then, it has helped Minnesotans understand themselves, their lifestyles, and their politics. Perhaps the most important feature of the poll is that it offers a historical record of how Minnesota public opinion has changed over time, and what the key issues of the day were over the decades, from gasoline rationing in the 1940s through racial issues in the 1970s to the political polarization of today.

This treasure trove of historical information may be useful to students, researchers, journalists, and citizens. The Center for the Study of Politics and Governance has archived the most recent polls (2000-present) and will also continue to both update the archive with new polls as well as extend the Archive further back in time.

Humphrey Institute Surveys

The Center for the Study of Politics and Governance offers complete access to its various Election Surveys. On this site you will find summaries of the survey's methodology and modeling, reports generated from the surveys, survey questionnaires with marginals, crosstabulations, and the original data set files.
