- Connecting students with Humphrey School alumni.
- Because of the timing of the trip, it may not necessarily be a good way to find a specific job or internship.
2. Schedule of events:
- Visits with federal, nonprofit, private and thinktank organizations, as well as panels of organizational representatives will take place Monday through Thursday, March 18 through March 21, 2013. The 2013 itinerary still is in the works. Until it is ready, click to see the 2012 DC Trip Schedule.
- We will visit organizations and/or have panels of organizational representatives each day for the 4 days of the trip.
- An alumni-student reception to be held the evening of Wednesday, March 20, 2013.
3. Cost estimates and travel grants:
- Transportation to and from D.C.: Check airfares online (airfares are currently around $400-$600 —but prices change frequently). Fly into either Reagan National Airport (DCA), Dulles International Airport (IAD), or even Baltimore (BWI). There is public transportation from each into D.C.
- Transportation within D.C. via the Metro. Metro costs within the city: $6-8 per day.
- Food: Budget $35-45 a day.
- Lodging: We do our best to find alumni host housing for all students who need housing. Budget hotels/B&B's will be around $150-200 per night.
- Travel grants from GAPSA: There may be an opportunity for modest travel grants from GAPSA - the Graduate and Professional Student Association
- Babak Armajani Prize: This prize of up to $100 supports Humphrey School students seeking professional development opportunities outside of the formal curriculum. See Babak Armajani Prize guidelines.
