| MENTOR PROGRAM
Alumni
Local alumni who wish to volunteer for the Mentor Program fill out a mentor enrollment form. This includes contact information and a profile.
Students
Students review the list of REPRESENTATIVE MENTORS at http://blog.lib.umn.edu/hhhcs/hhhmentor/ and identify which (up to 3 - unranked) they feel would be the best match for their interests and why those are good matches. There is no guarantee that a student will be matched with one of their preferred mentors, but if the Alumni Mentor Committee can’t assign one of those mentors, then the committee will find another mentor in the same field. Student preferences are used to guide the committee in the matching process.
Students fill out online Alumni Mentor Program Student Application, listing their mentor preferences. Students also submit their updated RESUME in MS Word format to Jane Vega. The resume will be used both for matching and, later, for mentors to review before the kick-offs. Student applications and resumes are due by 7/31/2009.
If a student cannot find an appropriate match from the mentor pool, then he or she should complete an online Mentor Request Form. Students also submit their updated RESUME in MS Word format to Jane Vega. Mentor request forms and resumes are due by 7/31/2009. The Alumni Mentor Committee and Mentor Program staff make the matches from the existing mentor pool and recruit additional mentors for specific student needs. Students and mentors will be notified of their matches in September and the kickoff events will officially begin the program in October. The program will end in May, with a final wrap-up event in late April.
