One Humphrey, One Community
Join us in the initiative to begin greater work and action surrounding issues of diversity at the Humphrey School. One Humphrey, One Community will engage faculty, staff, and students in honest conversations focused on race and its intersection with multiple identities. Through the use of facilitated circle dialogues, this event will encourage you to approach issues of race and diversity from both a personal and institutional perspective.

Small Talk before a Great Conversation
Dean J. Brian Atwood will take part in the “Great Conversations” series on Tuesday, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ted Mann Concert Hall. Atwood will be joined by Peruvian economist Hernando de Soto, who is internationally known for his work on the informal economy and the importance of property rights. Praised by President Clinton as “the world’s greatest living economist” and named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Forbes magazine, de Soto is the President of Peru’s Institute for Liberty and Democracy located in Lima.
Tickets for this event are $28.50 (or $23.50 for University of Minnesota faculty, staff, and students, as well as the University of Minnesota Alumni Association, Presidents Club, MinnPost.com, and Minnesota Public Radio members). Order tickets by calling 612-624-2345.

The screening will be followed by a conversation with two of Humphrey's lifelong friends, Geri Joseph, former U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands, and Warren Spannaus, former Minnesota Attorney General.

Filmmaker Mick Caouette spent almost a decade making this moving, no-holds-barred documentary about one of America's greatest legislators: Hubert H. Humphrey. He interviewed dozens of friends and colleagues to render a portrait of a public servant who is as inspirational today as he was when he served his community and his nation as mayor of Minneapolis, U.S. Senator, and Vice President of the United States.
