ALUMNI BOARD COMMITTEES

Nominating Committee

Purpose:  The Nominating committee ensures the alumni board is comprised of individuals who are qualified to serve as members and officers. The Nominating Committee strives to bring forward candidates that are dedicated, qualified, and reflective of the diverse range of Institute alumni. The Nominating Committee is a standing committee of the alumni board.

Responsibilities: 
Recruit alumni board candidates, officers, and representatives.

Present an annual slate of member, officer, and representative candidates to the full board for consideration.

Provide orientation and training to new alumni board members, officers, and representatives.

Plan for board member, officer, and representative succession.

 

Alumni-Student Connections Committee

Purpose: The Alumni-Student Connections committee works to create connections between alumni, current students, faculty, and the greater University community.  These relationships are meant to encourage connection with the Institute and to provide personal and professional networking opportunities.  For students, these relationships will assist students in their career goals and foster a closer connection for alumni to the Institute.  

Responsibilities:
Host annual alumni networking, outreach, and social events in the Twin Cities and Washington, DC.

Assist with the alumni newsletter.

Promote the annual new graduate directory

Work with the Career Services office to:

Coordinate the Alumni Mentor Program; Facilitate other opportunities for networking and mentorship, including resume and interview assistance.  

 

Student Finance Committee

Purpose:
The Student Finance committee assists students in affording their Humphrey Institute education by overseeing the Alumni Tuition Grant Program and by increasing the number of paid internships available to Humphrey students. 

Responsibilities:
Set annual fundraising goal for Alumni Tuition Grant Program (ATGP)

Create and implement a strategy for reaching those goals in consultation with HHH staff

Set criteria for how grants will be awarded

Choose alumni members to serve on ATGP selection committee

Ensure contributors are properly acknowledged

Work with other alumni to create awareness of need for paid internship opportunities
