Visiting the Institute

If you are in the Twin Cities, we recommend that you attend an information session at the Institute before meeting with an admissions counselor. Information sessions provide an introduction to the Institute and our programs and include a welcome from the dean and presentations from staff sand faculty members, as well as Q & A with current students.

How do I sign up for an information session?
Information sessions provide useful opportunities to learn about our programs from faculty, staff and current students. One benefit of the group format is that someone always asks a question you never though about that provides useful information. You can view scheduled info sessions, as well as register, here.

Can I sit in on a class?
Yes! Please send an e-mail to hhhadmit@umn.edu with the courses you are interested in attending at least one week prior to your visit. A current course schedule can be found here.

Diversity Weekend 2009: November 12 and 13

Diversity Weekend is a two-day program designed to introduce students who are historically underrepresented in higher education to master’s programs at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs. The selected participants have the opportunity to meet with faculty members, current students, and alumnias they experience the life of the Humphrey Institute and the Twin Cities metropolitan area. If you live more than 200 miles from the Institue, you may be eligible for a travel grant of up to $400 to cover the cost of airfare and/or mileage. Apply by October 14.
