As a professional school of public affairs, the Humphrey School engages in teaching, research, and outreach programs on a broad range of public policy issues. The Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota seeks nominations and applications for an Associate Dean, a professional and administrative position. The person in this position will also hold a tenured faculty position, and play a leadership role in academics and research at the Humphrey School. As the chief academic officer at the School, the associate dean provides leadership in the development of graduate degree programs offered by the School. S/he collaborates and coordinates with the director of graduate studies, faculty, and fellows to strengthen the for-credit degree and professional development programs. As the college’s chief research officer, the associate dean provides leadership in the management of research activities and oversight of School Areas, centers and outreach programs. The Humphrey School seeks applications to fill a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in public and nonprofit/NGO leadership and management. A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree is required in public policy, public administration, management, nonprofit management, political science, sociology, psychology, anthropology, history, communication, economics, law, urban planning, or related fields. All But Dissertation (ABD) candidates will be considered, contingent upon completion of all doctoral requirements by the beginning date of the appointment. The Humphrey School of Public Affairs seeks dynamic, high-energy individual to serve as assistant director of communications. This person will work as part of a team to develop and implement strategies that will effectively market and interpret the School to its multiple constituencies (media, prospective students, opinion leaders, donors, policymakers, alumni, and other stakeholders). The assistant director is the initial point of contact for regional and national media and directs media relations for the School. He/she also is responsible for social media and plays a leadership role in public relations and alumni communication. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, mass communications, political science, or related field and at least two years of experience as a communications professional in a higher education, nonprofit, news organization, or agency setting.
